Preparatory painting for Market II, Buenos-Aires
I am a British mixed-media artist. Having lived and worked in London for many years and travelled widely, I now live on the South Coast in Dorset.
I first became fascinated with colour and painting through the medium of watercolour, enjoying the clarity and graining effects it provided. I now work in mixed-media, using acrylic paints and inks to achieve clarity and luminosity, and collage to accentuate structures.
I work mainly from sketches or photographs taken on my travels, with a focus on the effects of light on the subjects both urban and rural. Where possible I include impressions of the human form and self portraits to enhance perspectives and to bring the works to life.
